I would be moving to Pune soon, would like to know which areas/providers have good international channels. I would like to have good Cable and Internet Broadband service. what are my options. |

Most areas of Pune will provide you with good options for cable and broadband internet providers. If you have a short-list in mind, maybe someone can give you a more specific response. With regards, TV - satellite dish is the best option IMO. Does Tata sky offer channels like CNN,CBS,TBS,Discovery, Nat Geo. Any idea of package cost/month?

Most Satellite Providers carry CNN, Nat Geo, History, Discover,TCM,Warner Brothers and HBO.(Note these channels carry slightly different programs from their US counterparts) You won't get US channels like TBS,CBS,etc in India. There are other channels like Star World, Zee Cafe that carry many U.S. shows (including Conan and Letterman). Pricing for the most comprehensive packages are still typically under Rs 500/month.(Much cheaper than U.S.)

Note - you won't get NFL and College Football on any channels available here. Your only option in India (I have used this..) is to sign up for online plans such as NFL GamePass and watch the games streamed via internet. The quality is ok if you have a good broadband connection (again - cannot compare it with regular TV!).

What international channels are you looking for? Most popular international news channels (CNN, BBC, etc.) are available pretty much everywhere. Popular movie channels are also available with every cable provider. Satellite dish will be much better than any cable provider. That way you won't have to depend on any particular area. Are you really planning to decide the area to live in based on the cable channels available? :) I am looking for CNN, CBS,TBS,Discovery, Nat Geo, ESPN U for college football, basically all US basic channels. I am really not looking to choose an area based on cable but dont want to be in an area where its completely not possible to get it. I am thinking DISH is my better option now.
