Any good passport agent near magarpatta city ? And how much usually they charge for a normal fresh passport application ?

Or does anyone suggests me to go without agent ? I live in rented flat and have very few address proofs so I am tending towards going via agent.

Do it yourself, is my suggestion.

I've gone through the process twice recently (once for myself, once for my kid). The only benefit of an agent would be that you avoid standing in that long line!

As for address proofs, etc. don't bother with what the agents tell you -- that you'll need a ration card, or an LIC policy (!), whatever. Just follow the instructions on http://passport.nic.in/ and you'll be fine.

Note that you can get everything done, including the police verification, without any under-the-table stuff at all. It did take me a couple of visits to the Police Station to get my file moving, but even those were at convenient times (late evening).

Thanks. I had done it myself 5 years ago at my hometown. But was worried that in pune I may find it difficult to deal with police.

Just wanted to update: I filled for passport with all documents required(I had no problem of any documents not available) only little glitch was local address proof as I am on rented house. But I had 1year bank statement with local address so that helped.

I submitted passport application myself(2 hours in queue, no other problem) Inquired at police station, form came there after 1month. Completed police formality (Gave some photos of Gandhiji) Waited for passport status(It took long to update) Passport got delayed for posting (That was posted as status after due date passed) Passport came exactly after 3.5 months.

Though It took long time to get it, there was not much following I had to do and I was in no hurry.

Wanted to know what are the things to be taken care of if I am applying for a Tatkal passport. My passport has expired about 1.5 yrs back and I need it a bit urgently. I am totally confused about the documentation part while applying for a tatkal passport.

Ecommerce : I appreciate your answer. But instead on talking over the phone I think it would be better if you can post your answer here. Since this is a community and your answer would benefit not only me but others too who are in a similar situation.
