What sources of information, or applications exist in Pune to get information about public transportation in Pune? Bus routes, route finder, rickshaw fares, etc.

(One source/app per answer please)

Somebody needs to do an Android app too! Also, this project and the others by @m4mum and @sadakmap inspired me to suggest the "Public Transit Assistant" student project - see description at http://j.mp/student_projects

+1, Can we have an android app that will use AGPS and also confirm the meter reading itself? That would beat all the crazy meters in our City! One can then just take a picture of the Rickshaw number plate the driver's registration card and send it to RTO when they misbehave (like don't start the meter or don't agree to going places within the city).

PuneAuto for Pune City Auto Rickshaw Fares on Mobile without SMS/GPRS (http://pune.m4mum.com/auto). Basically this is a free app that you can download and install on your phone. It allows you to enter the meter reading and it tells you how much you need to pay.

You'll either need to connect your phone to a computer (via bluetooth, or cable) to install the app, or you'll need GPRS (only needed at time of installation)

http://punetransit.sadakmap.com/mobile - the same app as above but for your mobile browser

or send a SMS like below to 09220092200 to get PMPML bus route info:

pmt Kondhwa to Baner

and you will get a reply as follows:

[18 kms] From Kondhwa take [295] get down at Employment Office, walk to Juna Bazar and take [114A] to reach Baner

Note: you dont have to pay any special charges for the SMS. You pay local sms charges as per your plan.

Sadakmap is cool. I could not figure out how to find the timings. Though it seemed like the portal supported it.

Thanks Sri - unfortunately we werent able to get the timing data from PMPML hence dont show it. The software is capable of doing so though - as you will soon see when we release the app for other cities around the world. Follow us on twitter @sadakmap to get updates. -Unmesh Mayekar.
