What are your picks for nice quiet restaurants (not too much rush) where a romantic evening can be spent with wife/gf?

Some very good suggestions. Thank you all. I will try to cover most of them as I think will others. No doubt each place suggested is unique in one or many ways but considering proximity to the city and reasonable cost I am marking up and above as the answer also Gaia suggested by a few also satisfies my answer but I m not sure if I can mark 2 answers together.

Can everyone also put up budget for each of the places you are mentioning?

not sure if its still open or not, but River view is also a good option.

I also liked up and above. They have couples balcony from where entire pune city is visible. Food is not so great there though. Very much with in budget.

+1 for Up-n-Above... Nice place for couples to have candlelight dinner (little congested though). Budget around Rs. 700~800 for two. Try Chicken Hot pan and Sizzling Brownie.

-1 for Up-n-above: Romantic ambiance but my personal experience of food quality there is not so encouraging. Other nearby option is Oasis (especially for candle light dinners) and Ambrosia.

+1 for River View...

Gaia - Kharadi Mundhwa side. (Ph: 27010050) It is a multi cuisine restaurant. I would recommend the Indian cuisine dishes because they are excellent. For a romantic evening you can book their tree house restaurant overlooking the river.

They have live band playing over the weekend so your idea of 'quiet' may not be satisfied. But during the weekdays you can definitely try it.

Average cost for 2 would come up to Rs. 1300-1400.

Duke's Retreat Lonavala (actually Khandala). You can reach there in 50 minutes if you don't hit the Hinjewadi traffic. And dinner/snacks with a view of the valley is pretty neat.

Plus, I'm told, a "spontaneous" 'Let's go to Khandala for the evening' gets a lot of romance brownie points.

I don't remember how much it costs, but it's obviously a little on the higher side.

Fort Jadhavgadh is a old small Maratha fort converted to a 5-star hotel. It is about an hour away from Pune in the middle of nowhere, but makes for a very nice romantic evening. Ideally, you should plan to reach by 6pm, take a tour of the fort, check out the museum they have, and then finish off with the dinner.

I don't remember how much it costs, but it's obviously a little on the higher side.

Malaka Spice - Is a perfect place for a date around KP and good food. Should be around 800 for two and some more if you want to indulge in some wine.

Foodlink (rooftop restaurant in ICC bldg B, Senapati Bapat Road) is a decent option. Amazing view and not too much crowd in their Italian resto. Its a bit costly though (900-1200 per head).

Laguna/Exotica (Yerawada) can also arrange a quiet corner for you (if you reserve in advance). They are also a rooftop resto - so nice ambiance, and food is also good. Cost - 800-100 per head.

I would also second Gaia in Mundhwa - amazing ambiance. Cost - 700-800 per head.

Golden Palms (after Bhakti-Shakti, Nigdi) is a nice place for a romantic evening. On the right hand side, they have a small hut-type arrangement specially for couples (candlelight dinner). Do try Seafood here. veg dishes are also good. Cost for two - around Rs. 700~800.

But please make sure you see the comments about Galaxy Grill at this question: http://forpune.com/questions/183/good-middle-eastern-greek-food-in-pune

The bill might kill the romantic mood.

I like Pancard Clubs in Baner. The setting is nice and quiet, the view's good, the food is excellent, the service is slow, and the prices are average.

Disclaimer: It's been a while since I had a nice quiet romantic dinner with the wife :)

+1 if your idea of romantic dinner involves Margaritas, because they make pretty decent ones that are ridiculously cheap at Rs. 130 per glass.
