Hi, Can anyone suggest good psychiatrists in Pune. I had visited one senior doc but it was not helpful. Please help. |

I would suggest:
(Yes, I've also had the bad experience of talking to the senior psychiatrists in Pune) Thanks a lot Navin, One of my friend is visiting Dr Pathare and what I have heard from him doesn't encourage me to visit him. He seems to be too professional. It may be my false interpretation. I am suffering from bipolar disorder. Can you tell me Who is better between Dr Pathare and Dr Chouwgule as I dont want to take any chance, I want the right person this time. Thanks

Aniruddha, both are good (or I wouldn't have recommended them here) - and medically, I believe both are sound. However their style of interaction might differ. Dr. Pathare is a very no-nonsense, no-mollycoddling, blunt person. Dr. Chowgule is more traditional/tactful in his dealings. Which approach works better maybe differs from patient-to-patient. Maybe what you should do is visit both of them and you'll get an idea of what works better for you. In my opinion, picking a psychiatrist is important enough that a session or two spent in evaluation is worth the trouble.

For children, I would highly recommend Child Guidance Center, Sahyadri (www.cgcpune.com - website is still under development though). I know the personally know the person, Radhika Bapat, who runs the show there and she is great. ~Sri |

Dr. Nilofer Ibrahim at Jehangir Hospital. Niloufer is a counsellor, not a psychiatrist.

Hi Aniruddha, Have you gone to any psychiatrist ? Can you share your experience ? I am also searching for good psychiatrist in pune. Please you or anybody can suggest me who is better ? Anand, I did not visit any psychiatrist as I am feeling better now...Yoga and Meditation helped me a lot and I tell you these practices only can cure your brain, I have been to a psychiatrist for 2 year, what they do is they relax your mind with medicines and you feel better...in severe cases one must visit the doctor but ultimately you have to start yoga and meditation...they clean you from the core...
