The list of Clubs in Pune that I can think of are:

  1. Poona Club (Camp) - I don't think they take new memberships anymore
  2. Residency Club (Camp) - Maybe open for memberships.
  3. Corintian Club
  4. Solaris Club (Kothrud) - They take memberships & are mainly a sports club
  5. PYC Hindu Gymkhana (Deccan) - They too take new members. Mainly food, also some sports
  6. AnandBan Club (Aundh) - Dunno about their facilities
  7. Symphony Club (behind Symantec) - Swimming pool, badminton court, a (shabby) gym etc. They take new memberships
  8. PanCard Club (Baner) - Not much sporting facilities, mainly food

....

Most of these clubs are family clubs. Most of them are NOT sports oriented clubs and take memberships.

Both my folks are members of Residency Club. I would recommend it for the amenities and central location of the club (walkable from Pune Station).

It has a swimming pool, badminton courts, table tennis, good restaurants, an awesome bar, a large lawn for weddings and a couple of other areas to hold smaller get-togethers.

Also, good value for money.

I don't know whether these clubs take memberships, but listing them out for the sake of completeness:

  • Turf Club (at the Race Course)
  • Boat Club

Both have roads and areas of Pune named after them, so I shouldn't have to specify where they are located :-)

As far as I know, both Turf Club and Boat Club are not taking new memberships (except special categories like Corporate Members, Children of Members, NRIs, etc.) Best option is to call them and find out, or check with an existing member to research this.

Deccan Gymkhana Club: Not taking new members right now, but as far as I know, they do have a wait-list.
