Hi All,

For child-birth, I have been recommended these three doctors. Dr. K Rao Dr. Jyothi Unni Dr. Gupte

Any experiences with any of these? Which one do you recommend, why?

Thanks, ash

I don't have any experience with Dr. Rao or Dr. Gupte; but can recommend Dr. Unni because:

  • Experienced, senior, but keeps up with the times
  • No-nonsense, straight talker (I prefer my doctors to be like this)
  • Good degrees; experience in India as well as abroad (which I feel is a significant plus compared to a doctor who has experience in just India, or just abroad).
  • Recommended by my friends who are themselves good doctors, and know which other doctors are good and who aren't

Two deliveries with Dr. Gupte... good experience each time. It's partly due to the doctor, and partly the hospital experience too -- cleanliness, quality of the staff, etc. He's a very calm, reassuring doctor -- something my wife really appreciated :) And the staff was friendly and helpful even at odd hours of the night.

I have one negative feedback about Dr Unni. She seems to be bit arrogant and woman of less words. May be due to her work load where she handles scores of such cases daily, but for a parent its a great time & need good doctor support during this.

We changed from Dr. Unni(jahangir) to Dr. Sucheta (oyster & pearl) in 8th month. My son (now 5mths) was delivered in Oyster & Pearl, we found the services WAY better than Jahangir with very cooperative doctors & staff.

Dr Unni is known for High Risk Pregnancy & would still recommend her is any such case, but for normal pregnancy & first time parents, I wont advise.

Dr. Gupte is senior most, very experienced, but bit buzier than rest. Dr.Unni is also gud, i can say bcause i have dr friends. Dr. Rao - not know much.

Obstetrician should be available and preferably near by, keep that in mind.

When I was getting conflicting opinions by several doctors for me,I reached to Dr Mangala Wani as reccomended by my friend and she in now my doctor forever. She is just amazing!!What i found intesting that she listens to you, answers all your questions and gives you a choice....I suppose because she is trained not only in India but also abroad(UK,Ireland and Abudhabi) .She cares for her patients and in emergency..always available. She is highly qualified. She is in practicing in pune only for last 2 yrs..that is why many people do not know her yet..but she is very good for pregnancy care and delieveries and also for other gynaecological problems.I surely highly reccomend her.
