Which is the best Chinese Restaurant in Pune? I am talking about authentic Chinese food, and not multi-cuisine, run of the mill Indianized Chinese with tadka that anyone from street vendors to Udupi restaurants serve.

Places that come to mind are:

1.Mainland China - I think foodwise they are OK and a little pricey. I like their restaurant on Saki Naka in Mumbai a lot better

2.Trikaya has a few Chinese dishes on the menu. Food quality OK. It is expensive

3.The Sun and Sand has a Chinese restaurant, but I have not eaten there in a long time

4.Chinese Room (two locations - Karve Road and East Street) are OK and have a mixture of authentic and indianized variants. Not expensive and food is OK.

5.Silk Route in Koregon Park has a few Chinese dishes. Pricing seemed OK

Mainland China is on Boat Club Road and Senapati Bapat Marg.

Chinese Room is one of the (if not the) oldest Chinese resturants of Pune.

Both serve Chinese dishes for the Indian palate.

+1 Mainland China. I have never been disappointed with a meal there.

Spice Island & Whispering Bamboo are Thai restaurants. Don't remember seeing any Chinese there.

Both are 'Oriental Cuisine Restaurants' - having a mix of Chinese and Thai cuisines.

There is a new chinese restaurant opened (approx 3 - 4 months now) next to The Bounty Sizzler place at Kalyani Nagar called the Red Dragon.

The food and the prices are decent (both a little less compared to Mainland China). Though it may sound like the Indian-Chinese stall, the chef is actually good and both the times we've been there, we've had good, subtle chinese food.

Used to frequent Eddie's Kitchen behind Laal Dewal ( Synagouge) in camp in student days for budget reason. Visited again few days ago - decor is run down but food is still tasty. Ginger chicken and Beef with Bamboo Shoots is my favourite.
