Now that again there seems to be a ban on plastic bags in Pune. We can all live without them for sure and use other bags, as long as they are available easily. Where can we find good regular use cloth or jute bags which can be used instead of plastic bags? Any shop in specific? If they are fancy or designer people will like to flaunt them too.

Cloth/jute bags from eCoexist (they are in Kalyani Nagar):

I have also seen cloth and (fancy) jute bags in Big Bazaar and Megamart. You can also buy them from places in Laxmi Road - don't remember the shop names though, most are small shops and a few street vendors also sell them there.

I have seen a good cloth bag (that promotes the environmental message) available at Popular Book Store, Deccan Gymkhana, Pune.

Hi eCoexist has both simple and affordable cloth bags for everyday shopping use as well as fancy designed bags that one could flaunt! Wed be happy to also custom design a bag for your needs if the order is large enough.

All our bags are made through NGOs working with self help groups in slums or through the Yerawada Central Prison helping groups such as these to earn through the process.

Do also read up about our campaign to encourage the reuse of shopping bags - the UseMeAgain campaign in Kalyani Nagar Pune.

Feel free to call or email us! ecoexist@gmail.com

@Manisha: I haven't seen online shopping on the eCoexist site, is it possible to put an order on call?
