a decent red wine will cost you INR 600-700 onwards. There are some good wine shops suggested in this thread http://forpune.com/questions/353/good-red-wine-shops Also Deccan Randezvous is new winery in the market with some pretty decent wines. I thought Deccan Rendezvous is a restaurant? Can you clarify?

Most Indian wines red wines should cost any where between Rs 200 to Rs 900 for a 750 ml bottle. The cheaper ones (e.g. Madera, Blue Elephant, Mojo) are blended and made from ordinary grapes, but are easier to drink and go well with most Indian food. Reserves or hi-funda grape wines (e.g. Dindori, Chantili, Grover, Sula's reds) will cost higher and have to paired properly with food. I know of only one sweet red wine type in India and that's port wine. Ask for Figueira - its a decent port wine. If you are okay with blush or rose wine, then Sula and Chateau Indage have decent White Zinfandels. Ivy White Zinfandel is the sweetest of them all. And the sweetest Indian wine is Sula Late Harvest Chenin Blanc. It comes in 375 ml bottles only. It's probably one of the best white wines in India. Reveilo also has the same wine but its not as widely available and not as good. All these are available in almost all good wine shops in Pune. |
