E-Square on University Road and INOX near Sadhu Vaswani Chowk are great.

+1 for E-Square - University Road. Especially Screen 5 - it's bigger and good sound quality.

E-Sq is one of the most commercialized and pathetic theaters of Pune. The screens are small, 3D is worthless and overall experience is bad.

Food courts are good though, but for a movie theater, that's not the first thing you ask for.

City Pride, Kothrud is a nice place, although not as fancy and happening as E-Square. Ample parking, less rush.

I like Gold Adlbas in East pune. Fame at fatima nagar is also good which has come up recently. In addition The combo offers at Fame are quite good.

INOX off Sadhu Vaswani Chowk is at the top of my list.
This is after having covered almost all places over more than a decade in Pune.

The trouble with theaters here,

  • loud sound is confused with quality audio experience
  • many of them do not understand that the lights have to go off (not just get dimmed)
    • this is often the problem with aisle seats at INOX!
  • parking can become a deep problem as it is hardly accounted for by these places
    • the multiplexes these days are getting a tad better tho

I have a friend working on a different take here,
he is building a projector at home -- last I checked he was prototyping over 80 inches on a whitewashed wall.
I think i'll try his place out more often :-)

INOX has the worst parking. If you are going for a night show, you would be waiting for at least 1 hour to get a parking slot.

IMHO, I'd give preference to INOX in Pune. After that probably Mangala and Rahul. E-sq would rank much lower in the charts. This review is given only based on the screen sizes and movie experience. When I go out for a movie, I do not count food, parking and other stuff at all. The Movie is experience should be best that's it.
