Kamla Nehru Park is a nice garden right in the middle of busy Prabhat Road/Bhandarkar Road area. I think it is over 50 years old, but cannot find the exact year when it was built. Any inputs?

It's rather difficult to google for the answer because Kamala Nehru park Pune is completely overshadowed by Kamala Nehru Park Bombay in the results! :-(

The Kamla Nehru Park is formally called the Erandawana Uyan.
Many Wikipedia references use the incorrect spelling 'Kamala' too.
And, the Wikipedia Culture_of_Pune page refers a yet undefined Kamala Nehru Park page.
Maybe, someone here with more data can correct that spelling and define that page.

alt text I'll try to get a better picture sometime...

From the PMC page linked above,

In the year 1952, a 4 acre land was named as Kamla Nehru Park.
To avoid soil erosion the retaining wall was constructed around the garden premises.
In 1954, Large lawn bed with artificial fountain was prepared in the garden with mercury lamp. A small part of this garden was allotted to Lord Ray Industrial Museum to carry out the agriculture experiments for school children.
The play equipments for the children was installed in 1953.
Daily near 3000 people take the benefit of this garden.
Caryopita guinesis (Kailaspati), Mohogony trees are the main attractions of this garden.

Location Erandawana, Pune
Facilities Big Trees, Roses, Lawn, Yoga etc.

Nik, Thanks for the answer. Some how I think it dates prior to 1952, but then the source you have provided above (PMC website) should be considered credible.

@Amit, if you think this answers your question, you could accept it. That is the usual trend, right? :-)
