somehow no one's mentioning monginis so far? They may not have cakes as soft and yummy as baker's basket, but IMO they have an excellent collection of eggless cakes. They specialise in fruit flavoured cakes (kiwi, orange, strawberry) Monginis seems to have the most wide spread network in Pune. The one near my house (located at shivadarshan chowk) has all the items extremely fast moving, so freshness is guaranteed. They also have extremely beautiful looking birthday cakes, at times the look is even better than baker's basket :) They stock some interesting savoury items too.

I think tastewise no bakery can beat the taste of 'Just Baked' cakes. Their Teramissu is not great, but cakes are awsome if you can get them to bake you a fancy birthday cake, they are the best. I have tried almost all bakeries for birthday cakes: Bakers Basket = good taste but no finesse; Copper chocs = ok cakes but their desserts are far better; Kayani bakery = great for tea time cakes; kremes & crusts = graet looking cakes and good service; Shokolaka = excellent cakes but far too expensive. If you can afford it go right ahead and order. Mongini's = very professional but no speciality stuff there.

Cakes from Forennte Patisserie, Koregaon Park. We had my son's 1st birthday cake from there, it was delicious and the decoration was pretty. Would highly recommend this place. |
