Sometime back I joined listia.com because I liked it's concept: auction off stuff you don't need, get credits, and buy things you need. For me that translates to books ;). Anyways, after a while, I found it quite useless because not many Puneites were around. Wondering if there is any Indian alternative, I'm not aware of.

I'm sure more Punekar's would be interested in such a site/service?

I can even think of a decentralized library, where people 'rent' out books, by getting books in return?

Any ideas?

Oops, I tried http://bookstack.in and got a weird "This Account Has Been Suspended" message. And, that too before I even registered with them!

Take a look at http://www.bookcrossing.com. I could see at least 300 members from Pune and many more from Mumbai. Donno how active the community is though.

Thanks Ankur. But it's a bit selfless for me :). I mean it's like karmic lottery. I'd like something more tangible in return, apart form joy of giving. Like a book for instance. And not 'sometime' in future if I'm lucky to cross it.
