Is there a recognized Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre in Pune or does one still have to go over to Mumbai for the vaccination?

Found some listings on justdial and I will be calling them up tomorrow. However these look like chemists who stock the vaccine but would not be in a position to issue the necessary certificate for travel to Africa (Kenya).

Had called up Sasoon hospital but they pointed to Mumbai.

Thanks, Harshad

Doubt it. Knew some people from Pune who travelled to Kenya 2 years back - they had to head to Mumbai to get the vaccination.

Thanks Amit. Traveling to Mumbai for a vaccine seems like too much trouble, but I guess there's no choice. The vaccine it seems also needs to be taken 10+ days before the flight

Try Jehangir Hospital or Ruby Hall. These are very good and reputed hospitals.

goto the site of Jehangir's and ruby hall.

An update on the yellow fever vaccination. Found no center in Pune that could vaccinate & provide the necessary WHO certificate. The vaccine is available in Pune and any hospital will administer it. The issue is with the WHO standard certificate.

You need the certificate to avoid being quarantined when you get back to India from Kenya.

The vaccination center at Mumbai Sahar airport is in very bad state, tiny entrance & waiting room, has a strange practice of a board put up every evening where you list your name. If you don't make it to the list, you waste a day.

Corruption is also a problem.

However it is told that the vaccination center in South Mumbai is even worse.

If one wants a certificate to enclose with travel documents (after vaccination) then the one should go to Mumbai International Airport. Else some hospitals in Pune do provide the vaccination.

A couple of friends got in touch asking if I did finally get the details. As that info was missing in this trail, adding the same.

  1. Found that while you can get the vaccine in Pune you can't get the certificate in WHO format. So you have to go over to Mumbai Sahar airport.
    • The vaccine center is pathetic, with hardly any visitor facilities. The process is that they put up a board each evening & you are supposed to list yourself for next day's vaccination. They administer limited number each day.
    • So if you reach the center in the morning, you could end up wasting the day as it is unlikely you will be able to get on the list for that day. So either ask someone to list you the day before or you yourself will have to go over on the previous day.
    • Awful system. There also seemed to be under-the-table ways to get on the list.
    • There's some other place in South Mumbai where you can get the vaccine, but that is said to be even worse & very crowded.

Hope that helps. Best wishes for Africa!

The whole system is really pathetic. The other place to get it done is at the seafarer's centre (MMD) Nav Bhavan in ballard estate on R Kamani marg. The scene there is that people start coming midnight onwards and write their names on a piece of paper. the first 80 make it to the list. You get your token number the same day and then get vaccinated the next day. Very sorry state of affairs!

Shraddha Hospital - Pune Aundh review

Doctor is a cheater. Please do not go to him. He will charge you very high saying that you have skin disease even if you are fit. I had gone to him for yellow fewer vaccination. He charged me Rs 9000 whereas it is charged only Rs 2000 else where and black-mailed me that he wont give me certificate if I do not pay. As I needed the certificate for visa purpose, I had no other option than to pay him the money. Mr doctor, How do you sleep well after cheating people in such a honorable profession? Remember.. god is watching..!

Doctor at Shradha Hospital is a Bloody Cheat. He charged me too with an exorbitant sum of Rs 8500 and diagonised me with skin infections and other ailments in the proces which I am 100% sure is non-existent. He is a cheat and I am sure he is not an allopathy doctor but some Baba Bangali who is giving intra-venous injections without valid license permit to do the same. He should be put behind bars for fleecing people. Also the certificate he provides is not as per WHO standards.

hello patient.. i am unaware what disturbed u so much after visiting this shradha hospital. people have good views of this hospital and its only you who have written some wrong opinion about him. writing your own opinion is fine but mght be somewhere some patient needs him desperately and ur review mght disturb them. and when u went to the doctor u have written a good review saying him to a good feedback to impress him to get ur work done. if he suggested to u to take some medicnes for skin then u should follow him and if not u cud have rejected it and gone to bombay airport.. wats the point in blaming him after using him for all ur purpose. if money is more imp. to you than human kind its better to curse urself rather than others. god bless u for ur deeds. thanks.

my advice to people sometimes rude words hurt a lot, dont go upon words meet and decide ur ownself wats good and wats bad. one rotten egg cannot disturb the whole basket of fresh eggs.. thanks.
